The stakes of the security around major events
The problem of security around major events and gatherings is global, and C-UAS is a new challenge that adds to existing needs: guaranteeing the safety of several thousand spectators in an environment that is often urban and open, while ensuring the safety of individuals: checks, detection of suspicious behaviors, dangerous items, etc.
During major events, several hundred security agents or law enforcement representatives may be mobilized on site.
During major events, several hundred security agents or law enforcement representatives may be mobilized on site.
UAS can pose several threats, both deliberate and inadvertent, ranging from disruption of events to deliberate attacks involving the dropping of payloads. Also, flying over a crowd at low altitude poses safety risks for spectators, and could even create a crowd movement.
Moreover, the environment is generally very complex: urban or semi-urban areas, with a higher-than-normal number of visitors, which can lead to saturation of telephone and Wi-Fi networks. The presence of large numbers of people also limits the range of solutions that can be used, as the festive nature of the event must be preserved.

What BOREADES can offer:
BOREADES has been used operationally since 2016 to protect major sports, cultural and official events, and has been deployed on numerous occasions since then, including the 14 July parade in Paris and the 2018 Ryder Cup.
In its deployable configuration, BOREADES is suitable for event-based protection:
- Simple and user-friendly for operators who generally carry out one-off tasks.
- Equipped with an automatic calibration and mission preparation system.
- Made up of compact equipment that is easy to transport or install on flat roofs, for example.
- Able to identify friendly drones (law enforcement, media, etc.) and display them as such.
- Suitable for use in urban environments, with appropriate sensors and effectors in terms of both performance and compliance with applicable constraints.
To go further
Additionally, BOREADES is interfaced with our CRIMSON security hypervision and crisis management solution, enabling it to be natively interoperable with the solutions deployed in security control centers, as well as communicating targeted information in the event of an alert to the smartphones of the hundreds of security guards deployed on site.
