The stakes of the security around critical infrastructure
The problem of security around critical infrastructures and operator of vital importance (OIV) on a national scale is essential, particularly where refineries or energy production sites are concerned, and recent events contributing to energy tension, particularly in Europe, make these sites even more vulnerable to attack by UAS.
UAS can pose several types of threat, whether deliberate or inadvertent, ranging from surveillance missions or disruption to generate media attention (e.g. Greenpeace actions on several occasions at nuclear power stations in France) to terrorist attacks on infrastructure deliberately targeting activities essential to a territory or country.

We can for example quote the attack on Aramco in Saudi Arabia in September 2019, which affected the country's oil production by half.
Moreover, the environment is generally very complex: very high structures creating detection masks, often metallic, restrictions on the use of certain technologies in relation to activities, the presence of a river or body of water nearby, etc.

What BOREADES can offer:
Since 2015, BOREADES has been used operationally to protect critical infrastructures such as ports and energy production sites. On some sites, we deploy dozens of sensors to detect threats.
In its fixed configuration, adapted to the protection of a critical site, BOREADES is:
- Simple and user-friendly for operators who usually carry out rotations, and with the interface viewable by several players.
- Equipped with a mission preparation tool to identify alert and neutralization zones.
- Made up of sensors judiciously positioned to cover the entire area of interest around a sometimes-imposing structure.
- Enhanced by AI algorithms to detect UAS in video streams.
- Suitable for use in the environment concerned, with sensors and end-effectors adapted both in terms of performance and compliance with applicable constraints.
To go further
Additionally, BOREADES can provide an area surveillance component coupled with UAS detection, for the detection of intrusions by land, river, or sea.
BOREADES can also be interfaced with our CRIMSON security hypervision and crisis management solution, enabling it to be natively interoperable with the solutions deployed in security control centers, as well as communicating targeted information in the event of an alert to the smartphones of the hundreds of security guards deployed on site.
